Rookie talents shone, although concerns arose for the 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys faced an injury setback. Fans are eager to see how players develop as preseason continues.

Tampa, FL – The 2025 NFL preseason commenced this past weekend with eight games on Saturday, following three games on Thursday and three more on Friday. Among the standout performances were top draft picks Cam Ward from Tennessee and Travis Hunter from Jacksonville, who made their debuts in front of eager fans.

Cam Ward had an impressive start, completing 5 of 8 passes for 67 yards in his debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Meanwhile, Travis Hunter recorded two catches for nine yards and showcased his defensive skills by playing cornerback against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The weekend’s highlight was the Denver Broncos, who put on a dominant display against the San Francisco 49ers, winning 30-9. Broncos quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw a touchdown pass to tight end Caden Prieskorn and saw his team score 30 unanswered points. Emari Demercado contributed to the score with a 43-yard touchdown pass, while rookie cornerback Darren Hall made an interception, further securing the Broncos’ commanding victory.

Another exciting matchup saw the Arizona Cardinals narrowly defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 20-17, clinching the win with a 50-yard field goal from Chad Ryland. Quarterback Kyler Murray was efficient, completing 7 of 8 passes for 96 yards in his first preseason appearance. Backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett threw two touchdown passes, showcasing depth at the position.

The New York Jets continued their impressive preseason form, defeating the Green Bay Packers 30-10. Justin Fields made the most of his limited time, scoring a touchdown on his only drive. In contrast, Green Bay struggled offensively, despite Amar Johnson managing a 39-yard touchdown run.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers secured a convincing 29-7 victory against the Tennessee Titans. Quarterback Kyle Trask excelled with a passing record of 12 of 16 for 129 yards, helping his team dominate throughout the game. Additionally, it was noted that Cam Little, a kicker for the Jaguars, made history with a remarkable 70-yard field goal during the game against the Steelers.

The 49ers had a challenging game, with three different quarterbacks each throwing interceptions, raising concerns for the team moving forward. In a less favorable outing, J.J. McCarthy of the Minnesota Vikings threw for only 30 yards, while CeeDee Lamb, a prominent player for the Dallas Cowboys, was inactive during their match against the Los Angeles Rams.

This first week of preseason action featured numerous notable performances, effectively highlighting the promising starts of many rookie players, including Jaxson Dart and Shedeur Sanders, who had impressive showings in their respective games.

However, not all news was positive, as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton suffered an elbow injury during their game. Coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated that the injury was not serious and that Milton should be fine moving forward.

As teams head into the second week of the preseason, coaches and fans alike will be eager to see how these rookie talents continue to develop and contribute to their teams’ aspirations for the upcoming 2025 NFL season.
