Portland, Oregon – A 37-year-old man named Abel Arambula was arrested on Thursday for multiple charges related to a burglary at a construction site in Washington County. This arrest was made following a report of suspicious activity at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Northwest Anastasia Drive in Bethany, an area undergoing residential development.

A concerned caller reported seeing a suspicious person between two houses that were under construction. The caller provided a detailed description of the individual and the vehicle they drove away in. Rapid response from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) led deputies to locate the described vehicle, a silver 2010 Nissan Versa, which had duct tape covering its license plate—a clear indicator of potential illicit activity.

Upon further investigation, deputies identified Arambula as the driver of the Nissan Versa. A search of the vehicle revealed numerous construction tools, raising suspicions regarding their ownership and previous use. The investigation continued when authorities connected the Versa to a prior burglary incident that had occurred on August 7 at the same construction site.

In an effort to uncover more evidence, deputies executed a search warrant at Arambula’s home shortly after 9 a.m. that same day. During the search, detectives discovered multiple stolen items, indicating a pattern of criminal behavior. As a result of these findings, Arambula has been booked into the Washington County Jail facing serious charges, including three counts of second-degree burglary, first-degree theft, and first-degree criminal trespass.

The authorities are taking this incident seriously and are actively investigating any additional connections that may exist between Arambula and other criminal activities related to construction site burglaries in the area. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging anyone who may have information regarding this incident or any similar occurrences to reach out to them by calling 503-629-0111, referencing case number 50-25-10943.

In recent years, the increase in construction site burglaries has raised alarms among local law enforcement and contractors alike. Construction sites often contain high-value tools and materials that can be easily stolen and sold for profit. Authorities are continuously working to address this issue and enhance the security measures at these sites to deter potential thieves.

The arrest of Abel Arambula highlights law enforcement’s prompt action in addressing suspicious activities and preventing further crime. With ongoing community vigilance and cooperation, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office aims to reduce such occurrences and enhance the safety of residential developments in the area.

Overall, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of being alert and reporting suspicious activities to local authorities. Communities can work together to create a safer environment by being proactive and engaged in crime prevention.
