NEW YORK, N.Y. — The New York Knicks were four points down entering the final quarter Monday night, then buried the Brooklyn Nets with a 25-5 burst to open the fourth and won 103-90.
It was the 15th win in a row for the Knicks against their crosstown rival. Brooklyn has not won the matchup since Jan. 28, 2023, a stretch that began shortly before the Nets traded Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Landry Shamet led New York with a season-high 22 points. Jalen Brunson scored 19, OG Anunoby had 18, and Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds, all of his scoring coming after halftime.
Brooklyn held a 79-75 edge after three periods. Josh Hart hit a 3-pointer to start the fourth, Anunoby followed with two straight baskets, and New York was in front 84-79. A Jordan Clarkson 3-pointer later made it 91-81, and an Andre Drummond basket capped another 9-0 spurt for a 100-84 lead. In all, the Knicks won the fourth quarter 28-11.
Former Knick Julius Randle posted 21 points and 11 rebounds for Brooklyn. Michael Porter Jr. added 18 points and Nolan Traore scored 17.
Guard Jose Alvarado was back in uniform for New York after sitting out four games with a sprained left ankle. Coach Mike Brown still turned to Tyler Kolek at the start of the fourth, and Kolek chipped in a basket and an assist during the decisive run.
The Knicks have now won three of their last four games after losing their first three. The Nets fell to 1-6, one night after picking up their first win of the season at Indiana. The game was much closer than the two meetings at Madison Square Garden last season, which New York won 134-98 and 120-66, the latter a 54-point margin that stands as the largest win in franchise history.
