Dallas, Texas – FC Dallas announced on July 30, 2025, that they have successfully acquired goalkeeper Jacob Jackson from San Diego FC in exchange for a natural third-round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. The move aims to bolster FC Dallas’s roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
Jacob Jackson, 25, was born on April 25, 2000, in San Diego, California. He began the 2025 season with San Diego FC, where he made three regular season appearances. Prior to joining San Diego FC, Jackson played for the San Jose Earthquakes, participating in one U.S. Open Cup match in 2024. He was selected by San Diego in Stage 1 of the 2024 MLS Re-Entry Draft, marking a significant portion of his professional career.
The goalkeeper’s previous experience includes being the 24th overall pick by the New England Revolution during the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. Jackson primarily played in MLS NEXT Pro with New England Revolution II and The Town FC, where he garnered valuable minutes and experience. Over his career, he has accumulated more than 3,000 professional minutes and has recorded nine clean sheets.
Throughout Jackson’s time in the league, he has demonstrated potential and skill, as evidenced by his recognition as the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month in May 2022. During that month, he remarkably achieved five consecutive shutouts, highlighting his capability between the posts.
Before embarking on his professional career, Jackson honed his skills at Loyola Marymount University, where he played college soccer. He was recognized as the West Coast Conference Goalkeeper of the Year on two occasions and broke several program records. Among these records was the most consecutive scoreless minutes in a season, which he achieved with a striking total of 560 minutes. Jackson finished his collegiate career with an impressive record of 26 wins, 8 losses, and 8 draws, and during his junior season, he ranked sixth nationally in goals against average.
Jackson’s physical attributes include a height of 5 feet 11 inches and a weight of 190 pounds, which contribute to his presence as a goalkeeper on the field. His acquisition is seen as a positive move for FC Dallas as they seek to enhance their squad with talent and experience ahead of the new season.
As FC Dallas prepares for the challenges ahead, the addition of someone with Jacob Jackson’s credentials could be the catalyst needed to drive the team towards greater success in Major League Soccer (MLS).
