This move aligns with Marriott’s strategic growth in response to increased travel demand post-pandemic and aims to set new standards in service quality within the region.

New Delhi, India – Marriott International, a global leader in the hospitality industry, has entered into management contracts with Ventive Hospitality to establish seven new luxury hotels across India and Sri Lanka. This partnership aims to enhance Marriott’s presence in South Asia, focusing particularly on the rapidly expanding markets in these regions.

The new hotels will provide a total of 1,548 rooms, with key locations spanning significant Indian cities and Sri Lanka. Among the upcoming developments is a Ritz-Carlton Reserve-branded property in Sri Lanka, which will feature 73 luxurious villas alongside 80 branded residences available for purchase. This investment represents a strategic pivot towards high-end offerings in the South Asian luxury hotel market.

In India, the new Marriott-branded hotel in Varanasi will feature 161 rooms, while Mundra, Gujarat, is set to welcome a 200-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Navi Mumbai will see the establishment of the JW Marriott, boasting 450 rooms, and the Moxy Navi Mumbai will add another 200 keys to the growing portfolio.

Pune will also benefit significantly from this collaboration, with two Moxy-branded hotels planned: Moxy Pune Wakad, comprising 264 rooms, and Moxy Pune Kharadi, featuring another 200 keys. These four Pune hotels will be developed by Ventive’s promoter group, Panchshil Realty, showcasing the collaboration’s commitment to leveraging local partnerships for growth.

The planned timeline for these hotel developments is ambitious, with the partnership aiming to complete approximately 250 keys annually over the next five to six years. This steady rollout underscores Marriott’s strategic growth push in the Indian hospitality market, which has been witnessing a robust recovery post-pandemic.

For Ventive Hospitality, this partnership comes at a crucial juncture as it positions itself for growth following its initial public offering (IPO). By collaborating with Marriott, Ventive aims to solidify its credibility and achieve greater market scale, further driving its expansion initiatives throughout the region.

The announcement of this strategic partnership aligns with broader trends in the travel industry, highlighting Marriott’s commitment to enhancing its footprint in Asia. Recent updates in travel have signaled increasing connectivity between India and international destinations, evidenced by Thai VietJet Air launching a direct route from Phuket to Mumbai, and Etihad Airways upgrading its Kolkata services with new aircraft. Such developments reflect a growing interest in travel from Indian tourists, reinforcing the need for enhanced hospitality services.

On another note, various hospitality firms are also making significant moves in the market. Hyatt has entered a letter of intent to operate a luxury hotel at The Avenir mixed-use development in New York, further intensifying competition among major hotel chains. In addition, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants plans to launch a new boutique luxury hotel in New York City by late 2025, which will further expand its presence in the metropolitan area.

These developments underline a competitive yet expansive landscape within the global and local hospitality sectors, demonstrating a concerted effort from major brands such as Marriott, Hyatt, and Kimpton to capture market share in both established and emerging markets.

As Marriott partners with Ventive Hospitality to expand its luxury portfolio, the focus will not only be on meeting the growing demand for premium accommodations in South Asia but also on setting new standards in service excellence and hospitality.
